BINGHAMTON, New York  - The American Football Association announced today that due to the severity of the ongoing health crisis related to COVID-19, the 2020 event originally scheduled for June 25th & 26th at the Pro Football Hall of Fame has been postponed. "After monitoring this situation since January, we will now heed the advice of government officials, federal, state and local medical and scientific experts, project planners and risk management experts. We have chosen to act with extraordinary caution in making this decision, based on the following," said AFA President Dave Burch:
  • Social Distancing Challenges
  • Travel Concerns/Event Attendance
  • Business Closing Impacts to Sponsorship/Revenue
"These are incredibly difficult times for everyone as we look across the sports and societal landscapes, but the health and safety of our members, volunteers, and sponsors is and always will be our number one priority. With deadlines approaching tied into the logistics of running this event, it became readily apparent that conducting the 2020 event in June would not be a possibility. Our focus now will be on how we use this moment in time to inspire our membership and community while planning the event reschedule," said AFA President Dave Burch.

This will be the first year without an induction ceremony since 1980. However, t he window will remain open for submission of hall of fame nominations during the event reschedule.
